Monterey Chapel embraces the biblical principle of leadership for the local church through a plurality of elders and deacons. The Holy Spirit raises up men that are recognized as elders and deacons by the local assembly and that aspire to live by Scriptural guidelines like those recorded in Timothy and Titus (1 Tim 3:1-13, Titus 1:5-9). Biblical leaders shepherd the local assembly recognizing the headship of Jesus Christ (Eph 2:22) and by encouraging all believers to live for Christ and to exercise their spiritual gifts from the Holy Spirit (1 Cor 12:11 & Eph 4:11-12).
